Today, September 21st is World Alzheimer’s Day and this year the theme is “Remember Me”. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of Dementia, a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking and social abilities severely enough to interfere with daily living. As per Alzheimer ’s Disease International, every 3 seconds someone in the world develops dementia. In India, around 4.1 million are affected with dementia however only 10% get diagnosed, thus raising concern for creating awareness on this issue and also providing quality services for the Persons with Dementia (PWD) so that they can live with dignity.

As a part of our Professional Social Responsibility we conducted an interactive session on “Creating Awareness on Alzheimer’s Disease” with a mixed group of seniors and youth in Pune. The session was conducted by our Founder, Dr. Nidhi Mishra where she informed the group about Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, its stages, causes, symptoms, risk factors, treatment and preventions. She also made the group do certain mental exercises and advised them to do such exercises with family during free time for keeping themselves and their family mentally active and fit.
