    On 8th March 2018, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Senior Express organized and conducted its first “Meet Up Session” for the residents of Annasaheb Behere Old Age Home, Pune.

    On this occasion, we invited eight most active and inspiring women residents of the old age home to share their background and achievements with the group, who were later felicitated by Senior Express for their achievements in their respective fields. The group comprising of youth, seniors, men and women appreciated their story and got inspired by their achievements.

    Each of those eight ladies is an example of active and productive ageing. Their details are as follows:

    Ms. Sindhu Tai Deshpande,  94 + Freedom Fighter

    Ms. Gore, 80+ Philosopher

    Ms. Thakar, 80+ Retired Nurse and a Passionate Poet.

    Ms. Asha Thatte, 76+ Retired Librarian, Shivaji University, Kolhapur

    Ms. Kunda Vartak, 75+ Educationist and Child Psychologist from Pune

    Ms. Chetna Murthy, 67+ Retired Defence Accountant from Pune

    Ms. Ajita Virkar, 63+ Social Worker from Mumbai

    Ms. Anita Shah, 63+ Montessori Teacher from Baramati

    All of them not only shared their experiences, struggles and achievements with full enthusiasm but also took the session as an opportunity to relive the past moments while sharing their life story. Ms. Thakar couldn’t participate in the session due to some health issues so we met her in her room to hear her achievements and to felicitate her for the same.

    We at Senior Express strongly believes in strengthening inter-generational bonding for a healthy development of our society so we requested the young staff members of Annasaheb Behere Old Age Home to join team Senior Express in felicitating all eight inspiring women by gifting them plants which represent life, growth and development.

    Senior Express is very thankful to all the residents for their active participation in the session and especially to the staff members Mr. Sandeep, the youngest trustee of Annasaheb Behere Old Age Home and Ms. Kalyani, the Manager for helping us in organizing this session in a short period of time.
