Recently Government of India has approved the amendment of PWD Act 1995 as Rights of PWDs Act 2016. It has become the Rights based Act and created several provisions for PWDs under various categories. The seven categories identified in the PWD Act 1995 were added with another 14 categories (total of 21 categories) in the RPWD Act 2016. In view of this broadening of categories of disabilities, several seniors will come under this Act and got the rights to get services and supports. The details of categories of disabilities where some of the seniors can be assessed includes:
LOCOMOTOR DISABILITY: LEPROSY CURED PERSON;CEREBRAL PALSY;DWARFISM;MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY;ACID ATTACK VICTIMS.
    VISUAL IMPAIRMENT:BLINDNESS;LOW VISION.
    HEARING IMPAIRMENT:DEAF; HARD OF HEARING.
    MENTAL ILLNESS
CHRONIC NEUROLOGICAL CONDITIONS:MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS; PARKINSON’S DISEASE; BLOOD DISORDER:
HAEMOPHILIA; THALASSEMIA; SICKLE CELL DISEASE; HEMOLYTIC.

This is an opportunity for the group, professionals, service providers (NGOs)to facilitate for accessing the services, supports and other benefits as a RIGHT. More details can be seen at the website of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of Inida, New Delhi as: http://www.socialjustice.nic.in

I will be happy to provide the details and support the Service Providers / NGOs to access the benefits, sachems and others which strengthens the NGOs and thus works for the healthy and happy living of the most valued seniors.
