Seniors can play a key role in empowering the Panchayat Raj Institutes (PRIs). Seniors can contribute through several channels which include: Individually, Seniors Forums, Residential Welfare Associations (RWAs), Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and other suitable one. Seniors are well experienced and most valued human resources for the people and Nation at all levels. Recently one of my papers has been published in the National Journal Entitled “Asia Journal of Professional Ethics & Management. The brief details were furnished below as:

Abstract: The service delivery systems have become costly and face several limitations in reaching the targeted population with need based resources both quantitatively and qualitatively. The PRIs which works dominantly with top down approaches in catering the needs of the communities results for limited results with mismatch between the supply and demand. The challenges of PRIs can be taken up as an opportunity with innovation and creativity. The use of technologies with better connectivity works for the effective utilization of resources with improved participation, accountability, responsibility and transparency. Civil Society Organizations works on not for profit basis with better flexibility with people for the people. CSOs have got the opportunity to work with bottom up approaches matching to the needs and vulnerabilities of the people. The suggested model of PRIs-CSOs works effectively with better coordination as an ownership and balances the top down and bottom up approaches with innovation and creativity.

Model of PRIs-CSOs: The model of PRIs – CSOs are expected to work with better partnership with improved harmony and growth. Author is associated with several CSOs which are working on various issues of the people / communities covering parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The models of empowerment of NGOs and RWAs have been published in the National Journal with wide circulation.  In the process of strengthening CSOs, some of them have got the support of Funding Agencies both National and International, and recognition by way of National & International Awards. The strategies and models suggested in this paper are simple, flexible, replicable, scalable and sustainable matching to the dynamics of the given environment.

    1. Create Awareness about the role and need of PRIs among the people, communities, institutions, CSOs and other groups.
    2. Strengthen the PRIs with need based resources, systems, connectivity, technologies, and social auditing.
    3. Create scope for the development of CSOs and its partnership with PRIs at all levels with innovation and creativity.
    4. Encourage students to participate and to take up research activity with better sharing and connectivity.
    5. Develop strategies and interventions to prepare the people and communities to face the disasters for risk reduction.
