    Dear All
    Good Evening.
Senior Citizens (SC) are the qualified and experienced human resources to the Family, Community and Nation. Government is having resources to cater the needs of the people in general and particularly the poor, marginalized and isolated which includes the persons with special needs. As is well known and accepted that Government do have several limitations in reaching its people with need based services and supports. As this service delivery systems (SDSs) is mostly dominated by the top down approaches (TDAs), it deviates with high devilry cost and poor reach both quantitatively and qualitatively. At this stage Government has accepted and supported to form Non Government Organizations (NGOs) or Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to fill the gap as facilitators or change makers. As NGOs/CSOs are very near to the people, can work with bottom up approaches (BUAs)for the people and with the people with better development with sustainability which finally lead for improved quality of life (QOL). The youth at all the levels needs the support of elders to be the developers with systems and values. At this stage, Senior Citizens either directly or indirectly can support the Government for effective implementation of its missions and projects. Some of them include: Education, Health, Environment, Livelihoods, Micro-Entrepreneurship, Protection, Security, and in general in every area. At the same time, Senior Citizens needs care and rehabilitation services as the dominance of nuclear family system affected their quality o f living in general and particularly who are the marginalized both socially and economically. All such needs, challenges and issues of the Senior Citizens can be addressed with better model as give and take policy.

Before adding more, i will happy to hear more from others so that best can be planned for healthy living of the values Senior Citizens.

Thank you Mr.Nagishetty for sharing such a thoughtful article and raising concerns about the healthy living of our valued senior citizens. We believe that for the promotion of healthy living of senior citizens efforts need to be made at three main levels which are individual, family and society. At individual level, senior citizens themselves have to contribute towards their health promotion. At family level, family members of senior citizens have to make special efforts through which they can contribute in their healthy living. Last but not the least at society level, institutions like government bodies, voluntary organization and health promoting bodies have a special role to play in enhancing the healthcare of senior citizens. So, in short for the growth of senior citizens, along with their individual self a positive and supportive environment has an important role to play.

    Dear All

    Good Morning.

I am happy to inform you all that by end August 2017, i will be joining the Senior Group.

In continuation, please find some of the opportunists for the Senior Citizens considering them as Values Human Resources to serve the Family, Community and Nation. This has been taken from my paper which was already published in the National Journal.

The challenges of present situation, creates opportunities to the Senior Citizens to serve the Family, Community and Nation with innovation and creativity which certainly leads for better sustainable development with values and quality.

Challenges: In spite of modernization with technological advancement, the in-equidistribution of the benefits over the geographical area and people has widened the gap between the rich (urban) and poor (rural) and further resulted for ineffective service delivery system (SDS), poor access for critical human needs, further deepening of poverty, hazards, disasters, global warming, marginalization, violence, crime, lowered quality of life (QOL) and other consequences.

When such challenges continue, finally they affect the health & wealth of the people and environment. Then the question arises that what can be done?…. search for better need based solutions. Among the alternatives, Senior Citizens as a group are the best option to address majority of the challenges as listed.

Opportunities: Senior Citizens are readily available, accessible and affordable (3As) for the people & society for addressing majority of the listed challenges by way of: advocates, facilitators, ambassadors, teachers, guides, connectors, entrepreneurs, leaders, protectors, path finders, and other need based roles matching to the needs and challenges of the given set of people / environment. This suits to the concern of the Senior Citizens that ‘they are retired but not tired’.

    Looking forward….

    All the best.
