Women having disabilities or having a child with disabilities are more vulnerable in general and particularly when they are ageing (60+). Such women are burdened with home works and to cater the needs of other family members. Government and NGOs have developed strategies and interventions to work for the empowerment of such women all ages. Though this process is not that easy, still efforts can be made to help them lead better living with equity & dignity. The women having a child with disabilities has to look after the family and have to give special attention to the child. This group’s empowerment is much complicated as it involves the development of self & child. I am actively working in this direction to create significant impact covering: teaching, research, development of training & rehabilitation models, dissemination, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and publications. Senior Express can also think in this direction if it comes under its banner. Such groups are more vulnerable at family, community and other levels. They need more protected environment for better living with equity & dignity. In addition to the efforts of Government, several NGOs are working for this group. These NGOs needs support mostly financial for one time and regular projects. This forum can facilitate between the NGOs and donors both individuals, corporate, financial institutions, funding agencies and others who has a space (in their heart,) for others. I will be happy to share more and mentoring. Looking forward to hear from others so that such women groups can be empowered for healthy ageing and happy living.

Thank you for writing about the promotion of quality of life of older women with some special needs or those 60+ women who are having children with special need. Senior Express would be really very happy to use its forum as a platform for promotion and awareness of such issues.

    Thanks
    Senior Express Team
