During this week, i met some Seniors who’s children or grand children are suffering with THALASSEMIA which is more serious both socially and economically. Some of these Seniors came together and started an NGO. It is exclusively working for such children with matching services / supports on regular basis. In addition, it also works for the prevention of THALASSEMIA. This area is very much specialized and needs research.

Certainly, Seniors associated either directly or indirectly will have additional burden both socially and economically and further forces them marginalized including isolation with poor quality of life.

I visited this NGO to interact and guide to mobilize matching services. The process is going on to widen its service spectrum l.

Any Seniors having such challenges can come forward for getting better solution.

In the recent RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (RPWD) ACT 2016, the Blood related disorders like:THALASSEMIA, SICKLE CELL, & HEMOPHILIA have been included as identified disabilities. In view of this, all such persons will come under this Act and will get all the RIGHTS,SCHEMES, & BENEFITS. The process of accessing such provisions is going. This gives relief both socially and economically to all such SENIORS who are directly (parents & grandparents) or indirectly as service providers, supporters, & volunteers. Such association will help the SENIORS to be part of the Community with effective participation and thus lead happy & healthy living.
